Business and Employment advice event in Seahouses

Seahouses Development Trust is holding an inclusive event aimed at both businesses and individuals living or working between Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Supported by Bernicia Housing Association the event is designed at helping both -

  • People who are unemployed or underemployed, looking for training or careers advice or to start their own business. Information will also be available about child care, local volunteering opportunities and funding available to set up new groups.
  • Local Businesses which are looking for staff, funding to expand their business, information about training, implications of the new Data Protection regulations, are considering taking on apprentices or need any sort of Business Advice.

The event, which is free and open to all, will be a chance to speak to a wide range of regional agencies and experts, to seek advice and support for business expansion, make links and contacts for future individual development and see what opportunities are available.

Representatives will be there from NBSL, an enterprise agency based in Northumberland which runs funding programmes that help North East businesses by providing grants for business improvement. They also help people based in Northumberland to start their own business.

Business Northumberland, a programme funded by Arch and ERDF which, as well as giving support and advice to new and growing businesses, offers free to attend training workshops on topics such as social media, and a wealth of online learning material available through their website.

James Holloway, a business adviser with Business Northumberland, will also be holding business advice drop in sessions in Seahouses over the coming months, with the first on the morning of February 7th and will be providing details of free training on the new General Data Protection Regulations being introduced in May 2018.

Creative Fuse North East will be offering details of local courses for creative businesses and sole traders of cultural, creative or craft businesses in Northumberland, to learn and apply effective approaches to service development and project management.

Those attending will also have an opportunity of discuss accountancy issues, discuss access to superfast broadband across Northumberland and find out more about the Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership, formed in 2003, which comprises local people, representatives of statutory agencies and interest groups.

For those seeking work or training opportunities there will be details of current Job vacancies, support with career and training choices from Northumberland Adult Learning, Northumberland College and the Education Development Trust.

Coast Care, a new Heritage Lottery funded initiative will be providing details of a wide range of local volunteering opportunities, and details of Seahouses Development Trusts small grants scheme available to set up new groups.

The event will be a drop in, held from 3pm -7.30pm, Tuesday 30th January 2018, at The Hub (previously Seahouses Sports Centre), Stone Close, Seahouses. NE68 7YL. The Development Trust will also be linking into Village Halls Week (#VillageHallsWeek on Twitter) a national initiative to celebrate the contribution community buildings make to rural communities.
