Once again we've produced itinerary planners to help get visitors out of their cars

From Sunday 6th May the summer bus timetables started on the Northumberland Coast. Additional buses means that there is an hourly daytime service on weekdays between Alnwick and Belford via the coast, taking in Craster, Embleton, Beadnell, Seahouses and Bamburgh.

To help visitors to the coast make the most of these and other bus services we have again produced itinerary planners from the coastal towns and villages.

The planners show, in an easy-to-use format, where you can travel to by bus from seven towns and villages. Each planner suggests outbound and return journeys, explains when and how to change buses, provides links to timetables and gives more detailed itineraries for each place.

The planners are available for:

  • Berwick-upon-Tweed
  • Belford
  • Seahouses
  • Beadnell
  • Embleton
  • Alnmouth
  • Warkworth

They are all available to download from the ‘Getting About’ page on our website. We are encouraging holiday cottage companies, caravan sites, hotels and guesthouses to make them available to their guests.

During the summer months there are too many cars on our roads and in our villages and visitors are often disappointed to find no space to park and building new car parks isn’t always an option in an area protected for its natural beauty. One double-decker bus can take 70 cars off the roads and free up 70 car parking spaces, so encouraging our visitors to take car-free days as part of their stay is in all of our interests and we hope these journey planners will help. If more people use the bus, the bus companies will run more buses.

We’ve worked with the bus companies to make travel easier, with discounted tickets you can use on any bus, discounts for bus passenger at all major attractions and timetables that make travel easier.

Visit our ‘Getting about’ page for information on car-free travel in the AONB.
