Are you passionate about the environment? Do you get fired up at the thought of leading volunteers to preserve and protect it? Could you see yourself working outdoors in all weathers? Well, it’s official; we’re on the hunt for our next team member- and it could be you!
Our new Volunteering and Access Officer will take on a varied role with a focus on inspiring and motivating visitors to the area, volunteers, and residents alike. You’ll lead the Coast Care volunteering initiative and plan activities to conserve and enhance the special qualities of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You’ll be the main point of contact for volunteers, and you’ll need to ensure health and safety is up to scratch, too.
While you’ll be confident working outdoors in all seasons, there’ll also be time to catch up in the office with a cuppa. Our small, friendly team operates a hybrid working model, so you can choose to connect from home or from a desk at Lionheart Depot in Alnwick. Tasks away from the field will include communications activities to celebrate and promote our volunteers' work. You’ll be supported by our Communications Officer to plan and deliver social media updates designed to boost volunteer numbers and let the wider community know what the current cohort are working on.
Our ideal recruit will be educated to degree level in countryside management or a similar field. You’ll have working knowledge of legislative frameworks for countryside management and access, plus you’ll know your way around nature conservation and historic environment policy. We’re looking for someone with excellent organisational and logistical skills, the ability to be as at home with a chainsaw and brush-cutter as they are with Office 365, and who can deliver training and education initiatives that engage and excite our volunteers.
If you’re looking for your next environment job in Northumberland and think you’ve got what it takes to join the team, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
