We’re delighted to announce that we’re recruiting a new team member!

If you like working outdoors in all weathers, get along with people from all walks of life, and fancy learning conservation skills while getting paid, this could be the role for you.

Our Countryside Worker apprentice will team up with Emma, our Volunteering and Access Officer, to help coordinate the Coast Care volunteers as they take on a range of tasks designed to conserve and protect the Northumberland coast’s landscape and wildlife. There may also be opportunities to work with the Rights of Way and Space for Shorebirds teams, and we hope you make many lasting connections with the wider network of agencies that help manage the area.

You’ll need strong interpersonal skills in order to get to know the Coast Care volunteers, help recruit new volunteers and support members of the public when needed. Flexibility is important too, as no two days are the same! You might find yourself monitoring habitats and species through surveys, hedge planting, repairing footpaths, training volunteers or completing administrative tasks at home or in our office space in Alnwick.

You don’t need any prior experience for the role, as all training will be provided, but tasks can be physically demanding and may take several hours to complete. We’re looking for someone who is motivated to help care for and conserve the natural environment, and who has good timekeeping skills and can provide a professional, friendly presence at Coast Care volunteering days and beyond.

If you think you tick a few of those boxes, apply here!
