When we planned Coast Care, we recognised that some of our volunteers would be graduates from natural sciences, countryside management or historic/archaeological courses looking to gain experience and skills. We decided to build three ‘graduate traineeships’ into the project to help graduates into work - Ellie Coleman is one of our trainees.
Hello! I’m Ellie, a recent MSc Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management graduate from Newcastle university. I am taking on the role as a graduate trainee with CoastCare, based at Embleton Quarry Nature Reserve. I am hoping to gain valuable ecological and practical skills to start my conservation career. This will include working with volunteers, practical ecosystem management and species identification skills. I’m looking forward to working with Embleton Parish Council and the local community to use these skills to implement their site management plan. f you’re on the site and see me, feel free to ask me a question! Coast Care is volunteering initiative based in Seahouses and is a partnership between the Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership, Northumberland Wildlife Trust and Seahouses Development Trust, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
