Mudlarks, a local beach school provider, is on the shortlist to win a share of Persimmon Homes’ Building Futures £1million pot supporting under-18s nationwide - but first they need online votes to win.
Persimmon Homes NORTH EAST is backing Mudlarks to be a prize winner where cash awards of
£100,000, £50,000 or £20,000 will be made to those winning the most online votes.
Bridie Melkerts representing Mudlarks said: “It is a huge achievement to have been selected as a
regional finalist, but now we really need people to get behind us and get voting so that we are in the
strongest possible position to earn one of the top three cash awards on the night.”
Mudlarks provide Beach School Sessions to children in Northumberland. Their aim is to connect
children to nature on the beautiful Northumbrian coastline. Over the last two years, they have seen
the positive effect learning outdoors can have on children, improving physical and mental well-being
as well as helping to create a connection between children and nature and inspiring the
conservationists of the future. Often beach school sessions are the first experience a child has
of rock-pooling, sand-sculpting, bird watching or exploring their coast line. Mudlarks want to offer these
opportunities to as many children as possible and winning this award would enable them to benefit
hundreds more children offering beach school Sessions to more schools around Northumberland.
Voting could not be simpler. Just log on to www.persimmonhomes.com/building-futures and select Mudlarks to vote for them. They would really appreciate everyone’s support.
As well as the £100,000 first prize, there will be a £50,000 second prize and a £20,000 third prize in
each sector, while a further 87 shortlisted projects will each receive £5,000.
Online voting will open on July 23 and will close at midnight on September 27.
