Northumberland Coast National Landscape Team

We are seeking a Communications Officer to join our small team and help care for the Northumberland Coast National Landscape, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of England’s finest landscapes.

By designing and delivering inspiring and engaging communications you will ensure that the Northumberland Coast National Landscape, and our work, is understood, appreciated and supported.

As part of this exciting and varied role you will be responsible for all internal and external communications. This includes the management of social media channels and the website.

You will proactively identify opportunities to promote the profile of the Northumberland Coast National Landscape and our work with a wide-ranging audience including farmers and landowners, residents, businesses, visitors, community and user groups, local authorities and Government.

You will also liaise with National Landscape communications colleagues across the UK, contributing to the shared messaging of protected landscapes nationally.

What you’ll bring as an excellent communicator:

  • You will have experience of delivering impactful communications activity, a talent for writing compelling and engaging copy for diverse audiences, digital skills, and website and social media experience.
  • You will have the confidence and ability to lead on planning and delivering communications to the National Landscape team and our partners.
  • You will be enthusiastic about meeting people, telling stories about the landscape, and helping with engagement and outreach activities run by the team.
  • You will be a go-getter and excel at working both independently and as part of the team.
  • You will have an appetite to take on new challenges and drive forward the collective impact of the work that the National Landscape undertakes.

The role is hybrid with an office base in Alnwick. The role will include travel within the Northumberland Coast National Landscape and beyond.
