We're hiring! Project officer for Northumberland Coast Dark Skies

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of a brand new and exciting project: Northumberland Coast Dark Skies.  

Northumberland Coast Dark Skies is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to secure funds to conserve and connect the nocturnal heritage of the Northumberland Coast National Landscape. 

Help us achieve our vision for the dark skies of the Northumberland Coast to be conserved, now and in the future, for people and for nature. Through this project, the Northumberland Coast will become an exemplar in Dark Sky conservation and engaging people with nocturnal heritage. 

What you will bring as an excellent project officer: 

• You will be an energetic and passionate person who will raise the profile of nocturnal heritage, dark skies, tranquillity and the impact of artificial light at night in the National Landscape and the surrounding area.  
• You will be adept at managing an extremely varied project that includes co-ordinating practical conservation and survey work, and a capital works programme but also reaching out to communities, visitors, businesses and decision-makers to effect change.  
• You will be enthusiastic about meeting people, telling them about the landscape and its nocturnal heritage, and responsible for creating engaging outreach opportunities and activities, informative training and easy-to-use guidance.   
• You will be a go-getter and excel at working both independently and as part of the team.  
• You will have an appetite to take on new challenges and drive forward the collective impact of the work that the National Landscape undertakes.

The role is hybrid with an office base in Alnwick. The role will include travel within the Northumberland Coast National Landscape and beyond.
