Below is a full look at what’s happening across Friday 10 July and Saturday 11 July, along with what you can expect from each activity. Our gazebo will be set up at W3W ///salmon.rosette.pebble, where you can check in, meet guides, and find out what’s happening next.

Friday 10 July: A Full Day of Discovery

13:00 – 16:00 ERIC Species Tally  Kick off the BioBlitz by joining Jo Ellis from ERIC to help identify and record species across the site. Your observations will contribute directly to regional biodiversity records — a fantastic way to make your time count for conservation.

13:00 – 14:00 Invertebrate Session  Explore the tiny but mighty world of invertebrates with Iain Robson. Learn how to spot and identify the insects and other small creatures that play crucial roles in our ecosystems.

13:00 – 16:30 Guide in the Hide  Spend an afternoon in the hide with an expert guide who will help you observe and record the birdlife visiting the site. A perfect session for both new and experienced birdwatchers.

13:00 – 14:30 Wildflowers with Chris Metherell  Discover the wildflowers growing across the site and learn key identification features. This session is ideal for anyone wanting to deepen their botanical knowledge.

14:15 – 15:15 Fungi Foray  Join Lydia Koelmans for a guided exploration of the fungi found on site. Learn how to identify different species and understand their ecological importance.

15:30 – 17:00 Rocky Shores Exploration  Head to the coast with Amy Hopley to investigate the dynamic rocky shore habitat. Discover the plants and animals that thrive in this ever‑changing environment.

17:00 – 17:45 Set Field Cameras  Help Ellie Saunders set up field cameras and learn how they’re used to monitor wildlife activity across the site, a great behind‑the‑scenes look at conservation technology.

19:00 – 20:00 Coastal Walk & Talk  Enjoy an evening stroll with Iain Robson, identifying seabirds and learning about the species that rely on our coastal habitats.

22:00 – 23:30 Bat Walk  Round off the day with Ian Thomas as you use bat detectors to listen for calls and discover which bat species are active after dark. A magical way to end the evening.

Saturday 11 July: Morning Wildlife Highlights

08:00 – 09:00 Moth Trap Reveal  Join Janet Fairclough (RSPB) and Iain Robson to see which moth species were attracted overnight. Learn how to identify them and uncover the secrets of their nocturnal habits.

09:15 – 10:15 Bird Walk  Take a gentle morning walk with Chris Cobb and Barbara Keville to spot and identify local bird species. A peaceful start to the day.

10:00 – 12:00 Guide in the Hide  Another chance to spend time in the hide with a guide, observing and recording the birds visiting throughout the morning.

10:30 – 11:30  Pond Dipping & Bug Hunt  Explore the life beneath the water’s surface with Ellie Saunders. Identify freshwater creatures and mini‑beasts around the pond edges.

10:30 – 12:00 Meadow Walk  Join Daniel Madden for a walk through the meadow, discovering the plants, insects, and wildlife that thrive in this vibrant habitat.

11:30 – 12:30 Dragonflies & Damselflies  Learn how to spot and identify these fast‑moving insects with Ian and Elaine Burnell. Understand their life cycles and record the species you find.

12:30 – 13:00 Grand Totals  Join Jo Ellis once more to tally up the day’s records and contribute to the final species count for BioBlitz 2026.
