Tourism businesses across Northumberland are being invited to take part in a special workshop exploring how they can make the most of the county's world-renowned dark skies.
The Star Tips for Profit workshop, taking place on Friday 2 October at Craster Memorial Hall, will provide practical advice for businesses looking to attract visitors during the autumn and winter months.
The session is aimed at accommodation providers, hospitality businesses, visitor attractions and tourism operators who want to learn more about dark sky tourism and develop experiences that encourage visitors to enjoy Northumberland after dark.
Participants will gain an understanding of how to become more dark-sky friendly, market themselves as a 'stay and gaze' destination and work towards Visit Northumberland Dark Sky Accreditation.
With growing interest in nature-based and immersive visitor experiences, Northumberland's internationally recognised dark skies offer a valuable opportunity for businesses to diversify their offer and extend the tourism season beyond the summer months.
The workshop forms part of the Northumberland Coast Dark Skies project, which is working to conserve and celebrate the area's exceptional night skies while encouraging people to connect with its rich nocturnal heritage.
Northumberland Coast Dark Skies is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, the project has secured funding to conserve and connect the nocturnal heritage of the National Landscape, helping local communities, visitors and businesses make the most of this unique asset.
The workshop will be held at Craster Memorial Hall, NE66 3TP (What3Words: ///utensil.taped.retrial). Weather permitting, participants may also have the opportunity to enjoy some stargazing at the end of the session.
Dinner will be provided and attendees are asked to include any dietary requirements when submitting their RSVP.
